My heart His royal throne

Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

It was at the end of the Sunday morning service at the Conference in Switzerland that the preacher, Mr Friedel Stegen, asked the Euro Choir to sing this song. I couldn’t attend it, but we Streamed it live. It made a life long impression on me.
(The conference took place in Switzerland from 27 to 30 July 2017, with the theme: “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2.)

Take a look at the words of this song. Did you ever notice the words in the two last rows of stanza 5 “my heart shall be Thy royal throne?”

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise.

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

My heart shall be Thy royal throne.
Just think! My heart His royal throne!
And I say, “Yes Lord, nothing less, by Your Grace!”
How clean and pure our hearts have to be for such a royal position!
It should be exceptionally clean and pure.

Another song that the Euro Choir sang at the event was the well-known song:

Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is hatred let me bring your love
Where there is injury, your pardon, Lord
And where there is doubt true faith in You
Make me a channel of your peace
Where there is despair in life let me bring hope
Where there is darkness only light
And where there’s sadness ever joy
Oh, Master grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love with all my soul
Make me a channel of your peace
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It is in giving to all man that we receive
And in dying that we are born to eternal life

We are accountable for and to one another

My devotion this morning was about my and your accountability to the body of Christ, the Church.

If we are living in sin it will in some or another way affect the entire body of Christ. We read in Joshua 7 how one man’s sin caused a whole nation to suffer. The writer of the devotion said: “Christians living in sin will affect and render powerless the entire body of Christ, beginning with their own families.” But it is also true, that when one Christian repent, it has the power to bring blessing to the whole family and the entire body of Christ, yes even repenting from secret sins. May God shine His light on the grey and even dark areas of our lives and grant us penitent hearts!

It is so sad that in the body of Christ it is so difficult to help one another to overcome weak areas. We don’t like to be corrected, even from a humble softhearted believer. And through that attitude and spirit we put ourselves in danger. If we want Christ, we need to accept His correction, even when He is using a brother or sister, or even a child to set us straight.

Even slackness in our lives affect the body of Christ, first in our homes and from there it ripples out to the rest, and we sit with a church where people are more concerned about their own comfort than caring about the things of the Master.

Proverbs 18:9 “One who is slack in his work is a brother to one who destroyes.” It cannot be clearer! We forget that every act of us, shows who we are and where we are heading to. Even the way we do our work, whether diligent and putting our strength into it, or with dragging feet and slow hands. God sees it all and it quenches His Spirit in our lives. Do not expect a blessing with such an attitude to work. No! Let us do what we have to do with all our hearts as if unto the Lord, whether making your bed, or mowing the lawn. Let us have the attitude of my heart is His royal throne and my body is the servant of the Lord. Here is an amazing word from Proverbs 22:29 “Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.” Aha! I like it! To become skilled in your work means you put in some serious effort to excell. To always do better and be more effective. It means you do not look around to see who is doing what and then come down to their low standard. No, you have higher aspirations. Your heart is God’s royal throne and your body is His servant. And you are different!

Denise’s Prayer

I pray that the Lord will find us faithful as we face trials in this world. I want my heart to be God’s royal throne. I pray for humility, that I may die to self and not feel hurt every time things get difficult and the insults fly. Surely I can humble myself if the very son of God endured insults and much more emotional hurt than I could ever know. God who offered His only son so that we may go free felt hurt too when His son who knew no sin was sacrificed for a cruel world. I can only say thank you Lord for teaching me through your servant how to be obedient in joy to the bitter end.
