Death and There-after

Sometimes in life things happen which make you think about your life, about death and about your relationship with God.

We had such an experience early Monday morning. I, together with two helpers, came back from Maqhogo where we worked through the night on the bee-project. At 4:15am, quite exhausted, on our way back to Claridge, we had an accident. The vehicle is destroyed, but the three of us came out without a scratch by the grace of God.

We seldom think about God’s protection. How He is keeping His hands over us and protect us from all manner of things. We do not thank God enough for His protection. The incident could have turned out to be a disaster. When you open your eyes after an accident, you understand what it means that you can still open your eyes and say thank you, Lord.

Life and death are in the hands of God. Do you ever think about death?

If you had to die today and you stand before the Lord Jesus, and He asks why should I allow you into My heaven? What will you answer the Son of God? For the Bible says it is appointed for man to die once and after that the judgment.

If you die today, where will you spend eternity – in heaven or in hell? Read more

The Lord’s discipline

I read this morning from Heb 12 and got stuck, as many times before, at verse 6 “….. the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastens everyone He accepts as His son.”

No carnal person can understand this or accept it.
Why is it necessary?
I guess it is because our God is so holy.
He created us in His image, but we have fallen so far away from His image, that He needs to reform us to be in His likeness to take us with Him eternally.
Oh, how unruly and rebellious we must be in His eyes. Thank God for His love, that He takes the effort and time to discipline us and teach us His ways!
Oh, we are so often just like a bunch of dumb sheep!
